Fair Practice Code

What is the vision on operations: how does the organisation deal with people and resources and how does the organisation want to deal with them, in the light of the future and social context?

How does the organisation promote good governance, fair practice and provide a socially safe and pleasant workplace?

The MuziCan Foundation is a small foundation whose objectives have already been described elsewhere. The foundation supports the work of composer Marion von Tilzer by collecting funds through grants and donations, managing them, and making payments. The foundation also largely runs the administration and assists with PR and communication. The four board members work on a voluntary basis and are only reimbursed for expenses.

For her artistic work, such as composition and performance of music, artistic director, Marion von Tilzer receives reasonable and fair remuneration from the Foundation according to contract. Due to the size of the Foundation, lines of communication are short, and optimal communication is possible. This contributes to a safe workplace. For presentations of Von Tilzer’s compositions, people and resources are recruited in accordance with the following principles:

The MuziCan Foundation has adopted the Fair Practice code to guide its operations. This means that it has embraced its five principles.

  1. Solidarity
So far, the Foundation has no employment contracts with employees, but works with free-lancers with whom a reasonable and fair remuneration is agreed upon by means of a contract. For large projects, cooperation is sought with other cultural organisations in order to achieve a jointly supported multidimensional presentation.
  2. Transparency
Data on business operations are made publicly available via the website. The adopted Fair Practice Code and Governance Code Culture can also be found there. The principles of the latter are also included in the articles of association, as is the sharing of knowledge and expertise.
  3. Sustainability
The Foundation considers it important that people and materials inside and outside the Foundation are treated carefully and constructively. It does everything in its power in joint responsibility to promote this according to the applicable guidelines
  4. Diversity
For the Foundation, diversity is an almost natural option within its organisation and presentations. The principles of the Code of Cultural Diversity have long been applied.
  5. Trust
The Foundation strikes a careful balance between transparency and bureaucracy by creating tailor-made solutions where necessary. Quality is the starting point and the principles of representativeness and listing are observed. Disputes will be handled according to the applicable rules and as easily as possible. Careful contact is sought with freelance staff and trust is built up in order to achieve good joint results.
